Associate Specialist
Dr. Joanne Younge
Our Old Age Psychiatry service is led by Dr Joanne Younge, an Associate Specialist Old Age Psychiatrist with specialist expertise in mental health, dementia and cognitive disorders affecting older adults.
Dr Younge brings extensive clinical experience and a patient-centred approach, ensuring each individual receives respectful, thorough assessment and tailored care that considers both emotional and cognitive wellbeing.
Dr Younge works closely with patients, families and carers to develop personalised care plans that support quality of life, maintain function and provide clarity around diagnosis and long-term management.

What to expect
Your first appointment will involve a detailed clinical assessment to understand your current symptoms, medical history, cognitive concerns and emotional wellbeing.
Dr Younge uses evidence-based tools and clinical judgement to support accurate diagnosis and to distinguish between normal ageing processes and treatable mental health or memory disorders.

Following assessment, you’ll receive a personalised treatment plan which may include psychological therapies such as CBT, medication review, lifestyle advice and supportive follow-up.
Throughout your care, we prioritise clear communication, dignity and ongoing support for both patients and their families.
