Consultant

Dr. Kasi Subbiah

Dr Kasi Subbiah is a Consultant Endocrinologist with specialist qualifications in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He is also a Consultant at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, and has undertaken specialist training at King’s College Hospital, London.

His approach centres on listening carefully, explaining findings clearly and helping you understand the benefits, risks and alternatives of treatment.

Checking Blood Sugar

What is endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the medical specialty concerned with hormones and the glands that produce them. Hormones influence many aspects of health, including energy, metabolism, blood glucose, reproductive health and bone strength.

An endocrinologist investigates problems with these systems, helping you understand your results and decide on the most appropriate next steps.

Diabetes
& Endocrine Support

Diabetes care

Living with diabetes can bring daily challenges. Dr Subbiah offers specialist review of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, with advice that considers your health, lifestyle and treatment priorities.

A consultation may help with:

  • Understanding a new diagnosis or uncertainty about your type of diabetes.

  • Blood glucose levels that remain above target.

  • Frequent episodes of low blood glucose.

  • Reviewing medication, insulin treatment or troublesome side effects.

  • Diabetes management when planning a pregnancy.

  • Coordinating care where diabetes-related complications are a concern.

The aim is to agree a practical treatment plan that supports both your longer-term health and everyday wellbeing.

Diabetes technology

Dr Subbiah has expertise in continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps and hybrid closed-loop systems. A specialist review can help you understand glucose patterns, assess how your current technology is working and discuss suitable options for your needs.

Thyroid conditions

Dr Subbiah assesses and manages a range of thyroid disorders, including:

  • Underactive thyroid, including Hashimoto’s disease.

  • Overactive thyroid, including Graves’ disease.

  • Thyroid nodules and an enlarged thyroid, known as a goitre.

  • Persistent symptoms despite thyroid treatment.

  • Abnormal or difficult-to-interpret thyroid blood tests.

  • Thyroid conditions during pregnancy or when planning a pregnancy.

Your assessment brings together your symptoms, medical history and test results. Further investigations may be recommended where appropriate.

Other hormonal and endocrine conditions

Specialist assessment is also available for:

  • Adrenal and pituitary disorders affecting hormone production.

  • Men’s hormonal health, including low testosterone.

  • Women’s hormonal health and related endocrine concerns.

  • Osteoporosis and metabolic bone conditions.

  • Calcium and parathyroid disorders.

  • Weight and metabolic health concerns.
