Dr Julia Courtney
Dr Julia Courtney (MB BCh BAO MRCPCH MSc) is a dual qualified Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist with extensive experience in the assessment and management of babies, children and young people from birth to 16 years of age.
She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2006 and completed specialist training in Paediatrics and
Neonatal Medicine throughout Northern Ireland, including tertiary neonatal and paediatric intensive care
training at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Dr Courtney has worked as a Consultant Paediatrician at the Ulster Hospital since 2018, providing both
inpatient and outpatient care for infants, children and adolescents. Her specialist interests include neonatal
medicine, newborn and infant health, feeding and growth and developmental concerns.
Parents value Dr Courtney’s calm, approachable and thorough style. She is passionate about delivering
personalised, evidence-based care and believes strongly in working collaboratively with families to support
children’s health and wellbeing.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Courtney has completed an MSc in Neonatal Medicine and has received
multiple awards for leadership, quality improvement and patient safety work. She has presented and published research nationally and internationally and remains actively involved in teaching and medical education
