Dundonald Consulting Rooms opened in Autumn 2003 in the centre of Dundonald. The premises formerly occupied by the Dundonald Medical Centre were refurbished and repurposed for specialised private practice.
The project was initiated by Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Ralph Roberts, who along with three consultant partners, provided bright, modern and well-equipped facilities suitable for a wide range of specialists.
Dr David Cochrane retired from the partnership in 2023 and was succeeded by Dr Steven Kinnear, a local GP, who along with the 3 existing partners, has embarked on a project to further enhance the facilities, and the range of services and specialties offered at DCR, including a comprehensive private GP service, a range of allied health professional services and enhanced diagnostics and imaging services.
There are currently a range of Specialists practising from Dundonald Consulting Rooms, virtually all of whom also hold substantive NHS posts. This gives the opportunity to transfer patients to the NHS where more complex investigations or surgery are needed.
Accommodation comprises a modern, bright and spacious waiting room, with tea and coffee facilities; a range of Consulting Rooms; and a Procedure Room, providing the opportunity for a wide range of consultations, investigations and minor surgical procedures.
Clinical facilities include: ECG, Ultrasound, Spirometry, Cardiac Monitoring, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, phlebotomy, ear wax removal, joint and soft tissue injections, minor surgery, laser treatment room, and mole screening.
Laboratory and pathology services are provided by the nearby Ulster Hospital and Belfast Trust Labs.
Administrative facilities include: a welcoming and modern reception area, back office, consumables stores, records filing, meeting room, and kitchen.
